Slap-guitar anyone?

Sign in to disble this ad
I've seen a few videos of this and whilst I really can't see the point when you can play slap-bass a lot more easily, it does sound half-way decent.

Anyone else giving/given it a try? Has anyone here actually managed to come up with a playable tune?

Vic's brother kills that technique.

Very difficult with such tight string spacing. I could handle a 17mm spaced bass, but guitars are much tighter and I don't have the patience.

Yes, Reggie Wooten. Look him up. Blow your mind!

Also if I recall Raul Midon has somewhat of a slap technichue on acoustic as well.

I did enjoy seeing Reggie Wooten play that style live. It was impressive.

Well a lot of what is called "slap" on bass guitar is just a scaled-up and adjusted-for-context version of an old fingerpopping country guitar technique

I'd love to actually try slap n pop the smash out of a guitar, but last time I tried that on my friend's guitar, I snapped his bottom E and B string with pops. I'm guessing heavier gauges are recommended for first-timers popping and slapping from bass to guitar since extra-light guitar strings just do not cut it. That and I may be popping with a bit too much force.
