Unhappy Sliced off the tip of my right thumb!

Sign in to disble this ad
This past monday I was slicing onions on the deli slicer at my job in the sub shop at Wegmans, and somehow my right thumb got caught up alone the way to the blade, and I slice of the tip of my right thumb(mostly by the nail). Being a righty, I really cant rest my thumb down anymore, atleast until it heals, and being clumsy I have banged into things numerous times and its very painful. The laceration was pretty much on the opisite side of were i put all the pressure on my thumb to rest it on the pickup so hopefully when it heals it wont be so tender So far I can still slap a little bit, my finger is out of this big bandage, and has basically a bandaid and an artifical scab they put on at the hospital, so I have more mobility with it, I just hope it heals by june, I have like 3 shows coming up.

I have more pictures of whats under that bandage but I didn't feel they were appropriate to post here.

Has anyone else had similiar injuries and contiuned playing like it never happened, I know the guitarist from Black Sabbath cut the tips of the fingers on his fretting hand off in shop class or something.

Yep.....I did something like that!

I sliced my left/fretting index finger down to the bone with a utility knife. I needed 4 stitches and I played in 2 days. My ER doc gave me some Lortabs (.....great stuff) to help me through the evening.

Orajel and similar products is great to help with the pain but it doesn't last to long.

Good Luck!!!!!

Just kidding mate! It's almost midnight on a Saturday here and I'm alone in my room.

Hope you recover in time for your gigs! Honest!

yes i lost part of my thumb, its gone, no stiches, nothing there to stich not too much, as much as about a sliced onion, however the angle took a few centimers in diameter and about half my nail.
