So few basses on ebay! what's up?

Sign in to disble this ad
Is it becauuse everyone is on vacation? Or is it because of the overseas scams (romanian scam etc. though I have heard they have usually only been using rickenbacker basses for the scam. or the chinese scams.)

Anyways I have noticed there are not very many cirruses moduluses and alembics among other brands this summer, especially lately.

I am inclined to deal with someone on here with a lot of good feedback however not many people have alot so what is in place here for protection, other than common sense? What happens if you are careful on here and get ripped off?

Thanks,
Joe

Do your homework! I usually try to talk to the person via phone, if possible, but it's sometimes not. I've never had a problem here, not a lot of transactions, but a few. If I get a bad feeling about something, I don't continue with it, that's never happened to me here, but it has on the Bay. If you check people's feedback here, most are around 2-7 transactions- this isn't an auction site, after all!- and VERY few are negative. If you don't feel comfortable about someone after a bunch of emails, ask for their phone number and talk to them. If you STILL don't feel like it's a good deal, or something is wrong, opt out. No harm, no foul. But do it before you commit to the sale.

I've yet to see a really bad transaction here between TBers. Not to say there never has been one, but they are exceedingly rare here.

Good luck in your quest!

Then there's eBay raising rates on merchants. There was supposed to be a strike by Australian merchants and power-sellers this past Monday or Tuesday. That might have something to do with it.

On the other hand, maybe the world's all out of basses - due to tplyons, who in fact DID buy them all up!

eBay's raising its fees, the IRS is getting into the fray, trying to get a big slice of the proceeds from sales, I won't even go there anymore except to check values.
