...and the girl I'm dating reveals that the music on her iPod we were listening to was directly from Dan Lakin's personal collection. That's right, she knows Dan!

I didn't get the full story, but I guess Dan married a woman who's very good friends with my date's older sister.

I just thought that was too cool.

Oh...no question he's a great guy! I took my DJ5 in for some custom work and he was absolutely bending over backwards to make my bass the way I wanted it!

I've also had Carl Pedigo refret my Spector and worked with Dan a lot on that deal. Dan took all the time in the world with me, trading jokes, offering me a beer, all after the shop was officially closed on a Friday night(for over an hour!!!).

I don't even remember how it came up in conversation, because I DEFINITELY didn't bring it up. I mean, what non-bassist knows who Dan Lakin is?
