My band, joker, has been selected to play a band in the upcoming disney (i think) movie Will. We're going to play the main rival band called The Glory Dogs. The really cool thing about it is that I actually am playing the bass parts in the studio also, so I think it will be a very good learning experience. I've already had two days of practice, with a sax player and singer i have never played with before, but they are all really good so I'm happy.

Very cool. What can you tell us about the movie (without breaking any confidentiality agreements, of course)? IMDB doesn't show any details yet for it.

All I know about it now is that it stars Vanessa Hudgens from High school Musical, and Scott Porter from friday night lights. Scott is the singer in my band. I don't know when it is going to come out yet, but I will keep you guys updated.

Will this be recorded under an AFM agreement? The reason I ask is because if it is you will be able to receive payments for a number of years from the Secondary Markets Fund.

Ah, I found the IMDB link for it:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0976222/

Plot outline: Will centers on a high school outcast and a popular girl who form an unlikely bond through their shared love of music. Assembling a like-minded crew of misfits, the friends form a rock group and perform in the battle of the bands competition at their school.

Wow, so your band is like a major part of the story.

No, I am in the main rival band in the story, who steals (not really, but kind of) their big song from the other band and plays against them in the battle. But we are still a major part of it.

Very cool stuff, hope you have a blast with it!

BTW, I've been to Austin twice in the past 6 months -- once for a 'battle of the corporate bands' at Summer NAMM, and a couple of weeks ago on business. Fun town. Last time I was there I took a 2-hour bass lesson from Ed Friedland. He's a great instructor if you ever need one. (http://www.edfriedland.com).

Maybe you guys will be the next Jonas Brothers and my daughters will use your songs as ringtones.

They even made Jonas Brothers Mii's on our Wii.

I feel dirty, I'm going to go and listen to Kylessa for a while.
