So a major local venue has shut in my local area...

Today saw the closure of The Studio, one of my local(-ish) gig venues and recording studios. It was up to its eyes in debt and then with the recession, the gigging side of things took a nosedive too. So unless a miracle happens, it's in administration.

Shame really, as it provided some good chances for young musicians to meet, record and practice, and also for young/inexperienced bands to gig. I'd been there more than once and it was a great place to go.

It also means that between Sunderland and Middlesborough (a distance of some 50km-ish), there's not a single good small gig venue.

Recording studios seem to be dying...
