So who is waiting for the new MJ album?

After we all got disappointed in 2001 with Michael Jackson's album Invincible, is anybody still wanting more music from the king of pop?

We all know, and some of us even remember, the days of the Jackson 5, the Jacksons and Michael himself. With great records on his name like I want you back, ABC, Dancing Machine, Blame it on the Boogie, Can you feel it, Thriller, Billie Jean, Beat it, Smooth Criminal, Bad and dozens and dozens more, do you have any faith left that this upcoming album is gonna rock our socks once again?

Remember, this is not a flaming michael jackson thread. NO comments or remarks towards his trials which we all know about.

well, his first two solo albums were all quincy jones, weren't they?

i just hope he's taking the madonna route, i.e., leading the trends rather than following them....

...and Rod Temperton (of Heatwave) was composing a fair share of the 'hits' from those 2 albums.
Jackson, IMO, jumped the shark with Bad...and that was 20+ years ago.

I don't have any high expectations on the new album, but of course I hope it will be a great one. I highly doubt it will become a classic in the lines of Off The Wall, Thriller and Bad though.

Is Quincy producing this album, or why was he mentioned?

I will never be able to hear that he's coming out with an album without thinking "He's doing it for the money".

I never get this. Madonna has not lead a trend in 15 years (I don't know that she ever did, but I'm going to give her the benfit of the doubt for the years I was too young to be paying attention to music). Her whole shtick is to take music that young people came up with 5 years earlier and put her voice on top. Same deal with Bowie from the 90s onwards.

Madonna has been leading the 'flavor of the month' since before you were born. When something really gets hot, and all the others were following her, she would change her vibe, moving on to the next thing.

It's even more so with him because he's flat broke and his image, like his face, is completely destroyed. With an artist in a situation like he is in, I only see it as a desperate attempt at something. For the record I thought that Britney Spears' album was the same thing. Trying to recapture a career that she let slip away.

That may be true of what she was doing before I was born (reread my post, I already said that), but starting with Ray of Light, if not earlier, she has just been regurgitating 5-year-old ideas of young people. Recently she's taken to copying people who themselves were pretty derivative. "4 Minutes to Save the World" rips off Gwen Stefani ripping off Missy Elliot, for example.

As someone who was around in the '70s & '80s-
IMO, when Madonna was "leader of the pack"...it was in video presentation.
Music? I musta missed that.
I love "Borderline", "Take A Bow", "Like A Prayer", "This Used To Be My Playground", "Crazy For You", etc...but it was never like "Wow, this is some fresh ****".
