Social Distortion just earned all my respect.

So I went and saw Social Distortion tonight...

It was their finale, and they were talking about the up coming election, yada yada...

So I thought "Great, here comes the Bush-Bashing and why he is actually satan."

Mike Ness:

"To all you youngsters out there... the Election is coming up this November... Do me a favor. Don't listen to FOX. Don't listen to CNN... Get off your ass and read up on the issues for yourself, and then decide. Don't let anyone feed you your opinion."

After that, I was like... "Whoa."

The band before them, Against Me, was selling "Hey Bush, ____ you and your daddy" shirts that only kids my age were buying...

Just goes to show the drastic maturity gap between these new "punk" bands and the old school guys.

Oh ya, and the mix was awsome... You could actually hear/feel the bass.

Social Distortion is the best band ever--period. I have been a huge fan of SD/Mike Ness for many many years.

+1

Also I think its great that they are still doing shows. I didn't think they had toured much in a while.

*Checks to see if they are coming to the Bay Area*

Yeah, I just checked their website and saw that they will be in Milwaukee, WI at the Rave. I am gonna have to go and see them again. It's a 9 hour drive there, but if that's the closest they are gonna get, I will have to do it I guess.

Against Me is an incredible band and have created great music and are very intelligent people.

But I'm biased.

SD are a good band, been doing their thing for a long time for a good reason.

Well, Fargo/Moorhead is about 8 hours!

Give me a holler when you get here! I'll break my Rave boycott to hang out!

PS. Social D is cool.

Yes, AM is pretty good...

But there is a time and place. That show was not the time or place... so they just sorta sounded... stupid.

So let me get this straight, if they said Kerry was satan you'd have even more respect for them and they would have sounded even smarter?

I would have laughed... then though they were stupid for thinking Kerry had the brains to be Satan.

I haven't been there in years, in fact I think it was in 96 when the Sex Pistols and Goldfinger were there. Interesting place.

I'll keep in touch with you and let you know for sure when we are coming there.

Any other TBers gonna be there?

Always liked them. Mike Ness is a great song writer.

Saw them back around '89. Would like to see them again.

I heard Mike Ness say about 12 years ago that if Johnny Cash was born in 1966 he would have been leading Social Distortion. Thought was cool.

So you're on their mushroom tip because he spit a bit of common sense? Did you see Donnybrook at Jerry's last Wednesday?
