| Is the cable cut in two, or just the jacket is ripped and the core wire is compromised? You *can* fix it, but it'll prolly be prone to failure
If you're goin the "ghetto" route like this, you could do worse than to get a crimp solderless connector from Radio Shack, fit both ends in, crmip to make constant, then wrap the whole shebang with electrical tape.
No guarantee there won't be any hum.
Instrument cable is core and shield. If the core is broke, then the shield is compromised.
