...about the best death metal vocalist I've heard!!!

I thought Angela Gossow was good up to this point, but if I hadn't looked at the video, I might have assumed that was Corpsegrinder in an early band. Well, thought some of you might be entertained by that, so enjoy. BTW, anyone have any clue about this group?

She's just growling, not that difficult. Now, to make it musical...there comes the talent.

But yeah, that voice coming out of that.

btw...if you haven't heard of them, check out a band called Thorr's Hammer. May be hard to find. It's R E A L L Y slow, but that chick can growl.

If making a voice like that qualifies as "best" at anything, then I don't know what to say. What that sounds like is "WORST" sound ever.

Death metal

Oh that is great. Seriously that is a complete 180 from what you'd expect her to sound like.

Oh my gosh... Thats almost as bad as rap as far as being 'out there' on the fringe .. The guy with the B.C. Rich as least can play half-way decently for that kind of "music" .. I wish I could hear the Thunderbird a bit better. Me thinks that chick has some kind of electronic gimick helping her sound that low... yeah I'm almost sure it.

Ha! That was pretty cool, that first moment when she starts in. I'm 100% positive she's singing through a processor of some kind. I have sung through a DOD Meatbox for a similar effect.

Death metal

Nobody said you were REQUIRED to like it, so I don't see why your post is neccessary. Death Metal isn't even my preferred genre to listen to. If anything, I enjoy 80's hard rock and jazz fusion above all else. The only reason I posted this was because I got a kick out of the irony of this.

I can't find a single good thing to say about the music contained within that video.

Wow, great growl. That drummer is way behind on the beat though.

Oh man. There were a bunch of ugly sounds happening there.

She might have been doing that with her actual voice, in stead of a processor. I hope not.

Everyone I know who sings like that is doing serious damage to their vocal cords.

If you do it right, you wont do any damage. That being said, it is quite hard to do it right.

It's all in using your diaphragm and having some excess saliva. Yeah, gross but effective. Listen to some Amon Amarth (the newer stuff), I believe that's what their singer does.

Growl from your chest, not your throat!

I'm always impressed at the way self-proclaimed educated musicians diss styles they don't understand.
Yes, it is a respectable form of singing that many people enjoy.
Yes, death metal is music. A pretty hard one to play at that.
No, it doesn't require a processor.
No, it doesn't damage your vocal cords when you have enough technique to achieve it.
No, you're not forced to like or even listen to it. Respect should be a must in music though.

She's no Angela but she's definitely great. Poor sound quality doesn't really help the band. The drummer isn't very tight, as others noted.

This is strictly my opinion here. Voice alone, the chick in this video has Angela's voice topped. All the other intangibles, Angela bags the kill by a longshot. Obviously, no woman has ever come along and proved more marketable for the genre than Angela, but I don't think Angela neccessarily has the best voice even amongst female DMV's. Again, just reaffirming that this is strictly my opinion.

...off to listen to my happy acoustic music then.
