Some more vocal help

Sign in to disble this ad
I know everyone asks vocal questions once a month but mine is pretty specific.

I have pretty good perception of pitch and I can sing along to vocals pretty easily. I'm not having much trouble singing while playing bass. However, two problems erupt:

Firstly, I can't always hear myself or the band very well at practice. It's hard to hit the right vocal notes when you aren't sure what you're hearing. I'm assuming live situations won't be much better, although I'm not planning to sing live!

Secondly, I sometimes have pitch issues when singing alone, without matching an existing vocal track.

Problem number 2 in particular isn't major, I can kind of correct myself... but together, I have trouble adjusting my pitch, and thus I can't really concentrate on singing!

So, if possible, any suggestions on hearing my own vocals and the band's pitch? How should I go about correcting number two? Singing with the vocals is easy, I'm pretty much on, but without them, how will I know if I'm doing well?
