Songs with awesome basslines you may never have caught

I didn't hear some awesome basslines I heard in songs years ago until i listened to them recently, and they're actually really friggin' good.

The first one was probably Rio by Duran Duran. Holy crap, that guy is fleet-fingered. I heard it late a night on VH1 Classic, and froze for the entire song. Wow.

The second one, actually, is Umbrella by Rhianna. She performed at my college yesterday, so people were playing that song everywhere, and the bassline is incredible. Especially her live performance at the MTV awards.

Anyone ever had a song with an incredible bassline bass them by?

Duran Duran's John Taylor is an underrated player. I have yet to hear him make a single mistake on any live recording I've heard.

Bow Wow Wow's Leigh Gorman is an astounding player that many people have never heard of . It's funny; many of the bass players that those people do idolize actually worship Leigh. And Leigh is still making music and playing bass. If all you've ever heard is their silly cover of "I Want Candy," then you're missing out!

It's transcribed in the Oct. Bass Player mag...the line was written & played(?) by The Clash's drummer.

also: all through jr. high and some of high school, Zeppelin was awesome riffs and awesome songs. it wasn't until my late high school/college years that i started to really appreciate John Paul Jones' playing. amazing!

I'm guesssing I have an advantage over you because I'm older & had been playing for 10+ years when I first heard "Rio". Plus, I had previously heard "Girls On Film"...so I knew this guy (John Taylor) was pretty happening.

The songs for me would a lot of the late '60s/early 70s Pop that came out of my parents' Ramblers.
Example: The Osmonds' "One Bad Apple". A typical syrupy rip-off of the Jackson 5...nevertheless, years later (like maybe 5 years ago), I re-visited it because Bass Player had an article about the guy that played on it (Bob Wren?)...the bass part is part-Jaco/part-Jamerson.

Others would be stuff like Chicago's early output-
"Beginnings", "Free" (like Jamerson meets Rocco Prestia), etc.

...and a ton of those early R&B hits. Some of them were pretty bubblegum but had killin' rhythm sections going on.
