Songs that left you speechless

Everybody has a song or two like this... A song that you heard, and it just stopped you in your tracks, that you can listen to on repeat for hours and never tire of it. I'm not really talking about bass lines, more just the lyrics and the emotional power of the song: Songs that grabbed your heart and wouldn't let go. Mine are:

"Never is a Promise" by Fiona Apple
"Hide and Seek" by Imogen Heap
"And So It Goes" by Billy Joel
"Untouchable Face" by Ani DiFranco

there are others, but I want to know what your songs are!

- Dave

A friend of mine has a religious experience listening to Comfortably Numb.

Thanks to iTunes, I'm checking out a lot more music these days without worrying about going broke, lol. Please keep them coming. Here are more of mine:

"Beautiful Day" by U2
"32 Flavors" by Ani DiFranco
A lot of Fiona Apple, lol... Pretty much, all 32 songs she's released (not kidding)
"Satisfied Mind" by Johnny Cash
"Sleeping In," "The District Sleeps Alone Tonight," "Such Great Heights," and several others from The Postal Service's album "Give Up"
"Empty" by The Cranberries
"Elderly Woman Behind a Counter" by Pearl Jam
"10,000 Days" by Tool
"Texas Flood" by Stevie Ray Vaughan

One that instantly came to my mind after seeing this thread's title is "Minuano (Six-eight)" by Pat Metheny. Especially because before hearing it, Mr. Metheny was a mode-wanker to me. "Minuano" (co-written with Lyle Mays) was the one that showed me what a great composer he is. A true work of art.

Jeff Buckley - Hallelujah

Not a religious person, but used to be. This song is very moving. It's a cover of a Leonard Cohen song (which I can't stand the original).

John Lennon - Imagine.

I think the song is so important to because I was playing it on piano at home when my grandmother called to tell me my uncle was killed in a car accident. I was 15 and real close to him but it was brutal as my cousin (his son) was 2 month old at the time.

Beyond that.....

Comfortably Numb and Wish You Were Here are great songs IMO lyrically.

A new one I really like is Bedouin Soundclash's Walls Fall Down. Great reggae groove with very cool lyrics.

Pantera - Cowboys From Hell(A mate lent me CFH and the opening track(CFH) hit me like a brick in the face!) Pantera fan since i heard the first note!

Cliff Burton/Metallica - The solo he played the night he died (for a metal bassist, he had some groovin lines in his solos! When i first heard it, i knew i would be playing bass for possibly the rest of my life)

Black Sabbath - Paranoid (I first heard this song back in school, when a band jammed out to this at lunch, as i was utterly gob-smacked!)

Yes - Close to the Edge

First that comes to mind, for as long as it is, every second of it is important. There is no pointless wankery, it's a true musical adventure.

A few from the past decade, off the top of my head:

"Rain", Patty Griffin
"Rise", Josh Rouse
"Love Is A Losing Game", Amy Winehouse
"Chicago" and "Casimir Pulaski Day", Sufjan Stevens (actually the whole "Illinois" album, but since this thread is about songs, I'll pick just a couple)
"Let Down", Radiohead
"No Cars Go", Arcade Fire (mostly the instrumental build at the end)

Could probably come up with a few others if I glance at my iTunes catalog.

some heavy stuff in here. for me, i'd cite The 11th Commandment by Mangione, Live at Hollywood Bowl CD (the entire work that night was staggering, I was there thanks to Dad, and I was only 13 or so - it's still with me)
