Songs That Make You Cringe

Sign in to disble this ad
I no longer gig and haven't for a long time, but when I did, there were some songs that were crowd favorites (and radio hits) but were just plain awful, and made you feel silly to play/sing. Remember, I'm going back to the 70's, but lets face it, bad is bad regardless of the decade. My most cringe worthy? 'Take the Money and Run' by The Steve Miller Band. Ewwwwwwwww!

"Two Of Hearts" - Stacey Q

Anything by Debbie Deb, but especially "Look Out Weekend"

These songs represent the worst of the '80s, IMO.

Pretty much anything(99%) on the radio, cause it's what's decided by corporate d-bags. And most of the people that listen to it are d-bags themselves.

Almost any southern rock makes me cringe, and no I don’t consider the Allman Brothers to be southern rock. And though I’ve never been asked to play any of it, I think I’d draw the line at any of the pseudo-uber-patriotic nonsense that comes from some of the new country artist.

Most pop music just makes me feel numb, not particularly bad in any way. Except for this Ke$a thing that was on SNL a few weeks ago... felt sick watching it.

Anything that can be described as "Texas Country".

It seems that in this "genre", as long as your subject matter is familiar bars, landmarks and scenery, it doesn't matter if you can't sing, write, or play more than 3 chords. In fact, I'm starting to believe that being devoid of any talent whatsoever is essential in pulling this stuff off.

Wonderwall, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Possum Kingdom. I will never play these three songs again, ever. Period.
