you can try soul to squeeze by rhcp, theres guitar in it but the bass plays the main groove and melody

also 'don't forget me' and 'cmon girl' by rhcp, other than the guitar solo the bass plays the main rhythm/melody

also the 'stand by you' song forgot it was done by who. it was a classic of some sort

Not counting songs/bands with multiple basses or songs for voice and DB (there's been plenty of threads about those), there are always entire discographies of bass/drums duos like Coa or Ruins. The song "Celebrate" by Fields of the Nephilim only has a bit of guitars during one break in the vocals.

Songs not composed for bass and voice that will also work well include lots of bossa novas and jazz standards. Try "The girl from Ipanema", "Desafinado", "Autumn leaves", "Besame mucho" etc.

Check out Death From Above 1979. They were a drum/bass combo from Toronto that were freaking awesome.

Great suggestion by BrandonBass, a truly classic R & B tune:
Stand By Me - Ben E. King

Great song that the bass carries.

You could also try Sunshine of Your Love by Cream. The guitar echoes the bass line but since the drum part is so involved the bass and drums can carry the song fine without the guitar.

Uhhhh Seven Nation Army by White Stripes? Yeah yeah, it's a baritone guitar. Does it make a difference?

There's also a indie-punk band called Japanther, same concept, but they make mixed tapes with beats on them so the drummer doesn't always play. They're kinda wierd...
