Songs that are/were stuck in your head?

Sign in to disble this ad
For me it's King's X's Repeating Myself. I love the song but it's driving me crazy for the past one week. I generally find songs getting stuck in my head when I'm tensed, as I'm right now (end semester exams )

Any notable experiences of this kind that you've had or are having? Solutions?

For some bizarre reason I woke up with the theme song from Bananas In Pajamas in my head today.

generally, i've found that if a song is stuck in my head, and i listen to the recording, it leaves...but the next day, something else takes it's place.

on a side note, i woke up with in the void by the sinators(local band from 7-8 years ago) in my head.

I'd never heard of Neon Tree's or heard their song "Animal".

Last week I saw them on Conan O'brien. Now I hear the song constantly and it is SO stuck in my head!

F**k You - Cee Lo Green. Can't get this song outta my head.

Wicked little bass line in the bridge, too.

I'm going to seriously show my age, but back in the days when all I had was a crappy little AM radio alarm clock, I once spent an entire day at school with Captain and Tenille's "Muskrat Love" stuck in my head (it was playing as I woke up). By the end of the day I was ready to beg someone to shove me out a window.

I saw The Barenaked Ladies last Sunday live at Seneca Allegany Casino and their song "It's All Been Done" has stuck with me all week. Great show and the band played very well and sure are funny as well as being great musicians.

A song my band has been playing since early this summer that people tell me gets stuck in their heads is "I'm Gonna be (500 Miles)" by The Proclaimers.

Whenever I get a song stuck in my head, I tell my wife to: "try and not think of Foreigner"etc.
Within a few minutes later she's calling me an _____________!

I have read a study recently, dealing with this phenomenon. What they found was, that strong emotions towards the song (either bad or good) upon the first impression can actually have an impact on how badly they get stuck.

My worst song is "Lemon Tree" by Fool's Garden - a german one hit-wonder band influenced by the beatles (but nowhere close oc). I hate that song. While I am writing this, I am trying hard not to think of it too much, otherwise it will pester me for another couple of days.

Another song was from a band I played in. The guitarist had classical education and wrote a hymn, plainly according to theory. It was really sicky in my head for months.

At the moment "Dancing in the Moonlight" by Thin Lizzy has been stuck in my head for weeks. I don't mind though, because it's a great one

Thumbs up Totally Stuck

Without a doubt Burlesque from Family, here's a later version from the Streetwalkers who were basically the same band.

I absolutely loved Repeating Myself the first time I heard it.

I do mind, because whenever I try to concentrate and think of something serious, some segment of RM starts playing in my head

Still somewhat better than an incident with a Bollywood song back in 2000. I couldn't sleep for 3 days after I heard the whole song.

This week, it's been "No Milk Today" by Herman's Hermits.

I hate everything they ever did, except that one solitary tune.

Since I am in a mostly cover band, I have this problem a lot when learning a new song. I tend to play it over and over to memorize all of the parts and it gets burned into my brain for days.
