Songs That You Incorperate Other Songs Into

I am wondering what songs people cover that might have 2 or 3 or whatever number of differnt songs added into the original song.

Our band plays Centerfold by the J Giles band and within that song we will play She Drives Me Crazy by the Fine Young Cannibles and Fast Car by Tracey Chapman and then close out the song with Centerfold again. We also do this with The Romantics What I like About you and Mellencamps R O C K In the USA.

I guesse you could say I am fishing for ideas, as well I am intrested in seeing if other bands do this kind of stuff.

We do Alanis Morissette's "Uninvited" and do "Kashmir" in the middle. Also Gary Wright's "Love is Alive" with "Superstitious" in the middle. Singer is working on new ideas now.

My old band did the Romantics tune as well and our singer would put anything that came to mind over the changes. In the middle of one of our originals he would do a bit from a Doors tune, "The End" I believe.

I've done Del Reeves' "Girl on the Billboard" and segued into "Walk on the Wild Side" and then into "LA Woman" before.
Not pretty, but fun.

in my old band...we switched between "Gloria" and Fortunate son every time the guitarist and i looked at eachother, just to piss off the singer....

the band im in now mostly jams, so we often medley several random songs into one.

One band I was in played James Brown's I Feel Good. The song was so short that it ended before many people could get up to dance. So, we switched to Papa's Got a Brand New Bag and then back. It worked pretty well.

I used to be in a country band and went from a Wynona Judd song (I forget which one) into Thank You for Letting me Be My Self Again by Sly and the Family Stone. The wanted to do Honey Im Home by Shania Twain but I said I would only do it if we went into Pour Some Sugar on Me by Def Leppard inthe middle. They didnt go for it.........

Our vocalist is a huge Chili Peppers fan. Instead of letting the last note ring out at the end of Californication, we came up with the idea of jumping straight into the first verse of Dani California, vocals and all.

Cheers,

In my former high school, the music class played a 30 minute set at the graduation ceremony every year. I played in 3 of them (10th grade, 11th, and my own graduation in 12th), but the first 2 sucked.
When I graduated though, I got to pick what songs to play and between me and the drummer (who was only 16 but one of the sickest drummers I've ever seen), we came up with a nice setlist and 2 medley songs.
We did the Chili Peppers' "Aeroplane" and "Breaking The Girl", by way of a little jam session in the middle.
Then we did Cream's "Sunshine of Your Love", had a short drum/bass solo interlude, and went into "White Room", also by Cream. The croud loved that one, probably because most of the people there were parents and teachers, all of whom grew up with it.

In addition to those 2 songs, we also played The Chicken, featuring my then girlfriend on alto sax.
It was an awesome way to finish high school.

For about 2 years now my band has been doing a super-extended version of "Orange Blossom Special", including everything from "Crazy Train" to "Walk This Way" to "Back In Black"! And a Jerry Reed namecheck. It just kind of grew... what happened was, the fiddle player was in charge of it! Fiddle players are a special breed. With their own special brand of lunacy.
I think we've finally decided to retire it from the setlist.
