Hi. Anyone here play guitar in a group that performs in front of people?
I play electric guitar in a coffeehouse type of group. The "problem" is that to the audience, my volume is too low. From my own "stage" perspective, my volume is always such that I fit well within the "sleeve" of the sound and blend my electric guitar sound (through my Fender amp) with the sound of the acoustic guitar and vocals- all of which are run through the PA. I know if I turn up which is easy, the audience will hear me better, but as far as a stage sound, I lose that feeling of being within the "sleeve" of the sound and it is not enjoyable for me. I have been very successful, IMO, in getting a seamless sound based on volume and tone which allows the electric guitar sound good in this coffeehouse context, which I think is all about blend rather than "look at me" rock stage heroics. I think I have the right approach.
I hesitate the mic my amp (in a coffeehouse of all places!) but, it seems to be the best solution to give me a low stage volume and also allow people to hear me as clearly as they seem to want to. Anyone dissagree?
Thanks.
