Speaker Break In?

Sign in to disble this ad
I recently loaded my Ampeg SVT410 HE cab with four Eminence Legend BP102s. I checked the specs on these in the Eminence PDF for this model. The specs say they work well in a sealed cabinet with 0.5-1 cu.ft. of space for each driver. The cabinet has enough space for proper operation.

The situation I have is (I didn't try this until today) the speakers are farting at 1/2 power from a 350 watt head (still really loud). They sound fantastic at lower volumes. Is this due to the speakers not being "broken in"? The cabinet should handle 800 watts with ease.

EDIT: They are 200 watt 8 ohm speakers wired in series/parallel.

So, do I need to wait a little while until the suspension frees up a bit, or is there a problem?
