hey!
i have a fender squier j bass and i want to spice up the pickguard .
as in paint it or something (you know some psychedelic kinda thing ) but am not good with the paint brush. so please throw in some cool ideas
could you suggest which paint to work with? acrylic paints?
i want something which should stay there and not rub-off easily but should not be impossible to remove (if the need be)

Been eyeballing my......dull.........black bass.......for something myself. Think I'm gonna avoid the paint route because of the wear factor. I've done spraypaint paintings and talked to a "pro" about putting it on a bass, he said it'd wear off because the paint is soft. They do make spray paint for plastic, but unless you're good it's gonna look like you spraypainted it......
Myself, I've been thinking of finding a cool decal type thing and putting it on....a waterslide decal like they use on model airplanes perhaps. If you're doing a plastic pickguard, you could could coat it with the same stuff they use on model airplanes to protect their decals because it's made for plastic . This is assuming you don't use a pick and hit the pickguard (that'll wear most stuff off pretty quick).....
Am interested to see what everyone comes up with |

You've got to walk them through with your order and virtually hold their hand to explain what you want. Otherwise, they'll screw up your order and you'll be shafted out of the original shipping cost, the shipping to return it to them, and the final shipping back to YOU in the end. Other than that, they're great.

I have a Squier Precision that needs some spicing up. I'm getting a pink pickguard for it from Jeannie Pickguards. It's for my daughter and her favorite combination in clothing colors is black with pink and white trim, so I figured a black bass with a pink pickguard with a white edge would be very 'her'.
If she doesn't stay with it, it can be my backup bass now. It's been pretty much hot-rodded for a Squier, DiMarzio PJ set, Schaller roller bridge. And since Jeannie Pickguards will already have the template, I'll be able to get another new pickguard. For me I would get a clear one and put a page of the newspaper comics section behind it.

I just invented a new country. And so far as I know you're the only resident. Quick, apply for diplomatic immunity.
