Unhappy Squashed my finger! Please...help...me....

Sign in to disble this ad
So working in a woodshop does have its scary mements. I squished my middle finger on my right (plucking) hand under 30 lbs worth of 5/8" melamine panels. I ended up with a HUGE blood blister for all my troubles.

That happened on Monday morning (within 1hr of starting ). It's curently healing, but I can't put any pressure on it. (It's currently bandaged). That "new skin" undeneath is really tender. What's the best/fastest way to toughen the finger pad up?

BTW, I used to practice martial arts so if I had some clean sand around I would use that for "poking," but any other ideas?

I'm currently forced to play with a pick but would rather not...

If it's serious enough to warrant a post here, visiting a doctor comes to mind...

I did something similar when I was 17 working in a cabinet shop, I cut my plucking index finger to the bone!!! Ouch!!!

Played the gig the next night with the index finger in a splint and plucked only with my middle finger...

For blood blisters; after sterilizing a pin needle, pop it and then put super glue or nu-skin on it and it'll heal up in no time... go easy...

You gore monger!!!

I had popped/drained it with a sterilized pin (licked it clean) and left a little hole to keep it from filling up again. I used hydrogen peroxide to clean it while at work, and Poly-sporin at home.

Crappy deal because I got a gig this Saturday night, and then three next week including our first TV appearance!!

Work on your 1st-3rd plucking rather than 1st-2nd. I've gotten to where I actually play with my 1-3 just as much, if not more, than my 1-2, and when 2 heals, work it into a 3-finger technique!

My finger story

Are your affairs in order? You know; will, funeral arrangements, burial or cremation, etc.

I hope so, cuz you're killin' me!!!

30 pounds on a finger tip is painful, but not life threatening...

You will survive this and pluck again with the injured finger!

Just relax and have some fun!!!

Just came back from a rehearsal and tried the index and ring finger combo and was kinda pleasantly surprised at my speed. However, I think you can guess what also happened...that middle finger tried plucking and - not so good-

I played my upright bass with burns on the first three fingers of my right hand. You can try a piece of tape over the pad of the offending digit, or just so what I do and ignore it.
Being a mechanic and ALWAYS having a cut or burn on my hands or wrists helps.

I'm not so very sure that's a woman at all, Munji.

I'd advise you to check again, but before drinking this time.

I think that's a test subject from your AREA 51. I think those fences and guards are there to keep things like her IN.
