Squier/SX Guitars?

Sign in to disble this ad
I hope this doesn't get me kicked off the forum but I was thinking about picking up an entry level guitar to help expand my music knowledge. Does anyone know if Squier or SX guitars are as reputable as their basses? Can you play them through a bass amp?

SX are pretty decent and yes you can play any guitar through a bass amp. Adam Jones from Tool started out with bass amps when Tool was new. Bass amps actually sound pretty awesome with clean guitar.

I can't speak for SX but Squier's guitars are just as outstanding as their basses. Also I would look for a used MIM Fender if you can find one cheap enough. Guitars sound outstanding with bass amps. Clean and very full sounding. I use to play my '67 Fender Jaguar through my friends Ampeg V4b head and a 215. Sounded epic.

If you're poking around Rondo's site, for a bit more money you might try an Agile guitar. I was looking for comparisons of different Les Paul-style instruments and the consensus out there on the internet seems to be that the Agiles are a better buy than their Epiphone equivalents (though, of course, a Gibson is a Gibson). But maybe keeping your costs under $100 was your point, in which case never mind.
