Squier VM Tele Custom HH?

Hi guys

I fancy a new guitar just to have around and noodle on. I have a squier strat which is OK but the hum from the pickups is unbearable when in crank the gain up. I've only owned one guitar with humbuckers and it was an epiphone sg4000 and it was horrible, the pickups were just muddy and bassy. But, I've heard the humbuckers in fenders/squiers are cleaner and have more high end than gibbo ones. On youtube vids they sound pretty good but I have been disappointed in the past by buying basses/guitars that sounded good on youtube. How is this guitar? Is it of decent quality for the price? If I put some good P-ups in it, would it be a nice sounding, reliable guitar?
