Stakes for a bet: A New Bass!

Sign in to disble this ad
I made a bet with my dad earlier this week. We're both bigger guys (I'm at 220, dad's at 230), so we have a deal. If I can beat him to 190, I get a new bass of my choice, probably a Steinberger.

Trying to stay positive and I'm working my *** off, but anyone have any tips on winning this bet?

Drink lots of water, eat a few smaller meals every day; breakfast, lunch & dinner, with snacks in between. It's good to keep your metabolism moving so it can help you work off the calories you take in every day. Cut out all the junk food: chips, candy, soda, popcorn, fast food, etc etc.

Eat smaller portions & eat slower. Let your body realize it's getting full, and never forget that you don't have to feel FULL every time you eat. You can be a little hungry at times.

That & obviously work out & be active! You can do this!

You can get that Steinberger!

Eat smaller portions.
Since you're younger than your dad, it should be easy to lose weight quicker. After a certain age, it's WAY harder to lose, because your metabolism slows down.

Thanks guys! The ten pound headstart is great too. I'm honestly surprised my dad made the bet. Whether he thinks he'll win or not, that's a pretty expensive bet on something so undeterminable.

I've been working pretty hard. I've lost about three or four pounds already. I might be lazy, but dangle a bass in front of me, and God knows I'll get to work! Haha

I dropped from 175 to 150 quite quickly just by:
1. Eating breakfast (i used to skip it, but it slows the metabolism if you do)
2. Walking to/from work (30 minutes each way)
3. Not eating dessert (ever!)

I still drink as much beer as I've always done, no real other significant changes to my lifestyle or anything.

Good luck, post pics when you win!

There should be a qualifier to the wager to be sure no one gains the weight back. Losing the weight is easier than keeping it off. Lifestyle change > temporary diet. *TJ steps down from soapbox*

Adding some more protein to your breakfast has been shown to give the metabolism a bit of a boost too.

The beer may work against my dad

I've totally changed my diet already. The one negative thing I haven't changed is my energy drink habit, but I've always been limited to one a day anyway.

drop the beer, desert, pop, candy, baked goods, and greasy crap.

Small, regular meal portions and exercise (cardio and lifting). I'd also recommend to have a balanced level of your macros (protein, carbs, fat). log your food intake at fitday.com so you know where your at.

I went from 230 to 175 when I was 18.

lots of fiber, water, and yogurt. its gonna suck, but for a new bass i would cold turkey cut sugar out of my diet. and from what i'm told if you eat cold stuff (like sushi, left over pizza, etc) it takes more energy to process it because it starts to lower your core temperature, but that could be heresay... lol, my fat ass just needs to hop on this train, lol
