Movie about the Funk Brothers, aka the band Jamerson was in to back all the Mowtown back in the day.

Movies great, I watched it for like 3 bucks on amazon, although im sure you can get a torrent, from a legal , legit , site.

anyways this movie pretty much runs through every player in the funk brothers who have more hits than elvis, the stones, and the beatles combined. so basically they are THE super group........amazing movie to learn your bass roots

Yep, wonderful movie. The book goes through transcriptions of Jamerson's work, and has a more detailed biography. Well worthwhile also.

Glad you enjoyed it. I own the DVD and never tire of watching it. You might like this great website, put together by a TBer IIRC: http://www.bassland.net/jamerson.html

But, it's MOTOWN, not Mowtown.

+1.

The perfect companion to go with the DVD. It comes with a cd with some of the top bass players doing some of the Motown songs. The great thing is you can isolate the bass to really hear those lines.
