Starry Night Pickguard?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys, I had an idea to make my Fender P Bass' pickguard a literal piece of art. So, what I want to do is put Van Gogh's "Starry Night" as my pickguard. (Mainly just the sky, as in the upper right portion of the picture) Now my trouble is, I don't know where to start! Should I try to find a website for custom pickguards and tell them what I want? Or is there a way I can make it myself? (And no, I'm not going to just paint over my bass..) Any similar experiences that you would like to share? Any advise would help!
Thanks in advance.

Oh and here is Starry Night, if you don't know the piece.

I think that'd look pretty cool against a color of bass that was very matching to the night sky, like a deep dark blueish

Thumbs up Love me some Van Gogh too

Get a clear pickguard made & glue a print of the piece you want onto the back of it.
I've seen a camphor burl top that very much reminded me of that painting.

Check here:http://www.pickguards.com/colors.htm
Scroll down to the "clear acrylic". You could do anything under it....

I love that painting, actually have a print hanging on the wall in my fairly spartan apartment. If I were going to get any kind of custom paint job or pickguard, it would probably be that or something by Dalì.

I've considered getting a clear pickguard and putting a page of the Sunday comics pages under it.
