started learning guitar

So I started learning guitar just for the hell of it. I feel like learning guitar will help me be a better bassist. However, guitar isn't really as hard as it seems, fretting chords and switching between them takes some getting use to, but its not all that challenging, I don't see what the big to do is about. Anyone else start playing guitar after playing bass and find it to be not as difficult as guitarists say it is?

p.s. I'm sure being a good gutiarist is hard, but I'm just talking about being a strummer.

I just started playing guitar last November. I got an acoustic as a bday present. Ive been playing bass for two years and I jsut really wanted to learn. Its not hard to get most of the basics down. Ive learned alot of the chords but I still dont transition very fast from chord to chord. I really like playing the reggae style chords also . Im really into reggae and its fun to play on guitar.

It's as much of a rhythm thing as playing bass. I think the feel is a little more "natural" since it is more closely linked to the melody. I think that's why it's easier to play guitar and sing than it is to play bass and sing.

Yes, I'm finding that learning to fret the chords and transition between them is taking some time to learn, mostly cause the fretboard is so damn small!

Thats why I'm using a classical style guitar, nice thick board.

I'm tryin to get used to the spacing on mine; that and the fact that if I try to do a bar chord (since my hands are small) the B string isnt touched because my knuckle lifts there...its annoying

I did it the other way around, guitar first, then bass, and I still think guitar is easier. The only thing about rhythm guitar (lead is a whole different story) that might get you is chord memorization and bar chords (see above). Flatten out that finger, I know it hurts...
