Starting a new band is frustrating!

Maybe it's just the scene here in Des Moines I dunno but for some reason I can't seem to find any musicians.

This is by far the most frustrating part of being in a band.

Any ideas on how to keep my stress to a minimum?

yeah, was thinking about craigslist also.

making recruitment flyers for local shops also.

i've wrote like 5 songs, lyrically and basslines.

wish i had a guitar and drum kit. I'd do everything myself.

Starting an original band can be tough. Only so many people are going to be interested in your music, and the chances of making money aren't near as close as playing in a cover band.

Post everywhere you can...music stores, craigslist (like someone mentioned), local music boards (do a google search), etc.

A covers band might be a reason to learn and excercise though. There is no reason on earth why you can't be in more than one band. There a whole load of benefits.

For finding band members, try a heavy myspace campaign. Jam nights might work depending on how popular they are and music style.

Cover band would get you into the venues.
Then you can sneak originals in and try them out on the audience.... say 4 covers, 1 original ration. If the originals go over well, you can slowly do more and more and more until the covers are hardly there. If the originals don't go over, you keep gigging and working on em
