Static Electricity reduction on carpeted stage???

I play at church in a carpeted room (on top of concrete, 2nd story). in that carpeted room is a 4" carpeted wooden stage. Flurescent lights in the ceiling. People walking around. winter.

between practice before service and "showtime" we usually leave on our equipment: PA amps and speakers placed on stage, Keys, mics, bass and guitar amps, electric drums with amp. every minute or so there is a "tick" or "pop", more of a "tick" like when you zap yourself with static touching your guitar. this CONTINUES to happen even while I'm holding my guitar and using my speakers. I'm not sure if its coming JUST from my cab or through the PA too.

I'm assuming this is all static electricity. IS THERE AN EFFECTIVE WAY TO REDUCE STATIC??? Grounding the stage? Humidifier (this is inside a 300,000 sf building!)

thanks

They make an antistatic spray for just this purpose. We use it at my church. I'm not sure where you can get it, but you could might check some of the big pro audio suppliers.

I'll see if I can remember the name or find it. It's not like a shampoo, it's just a spray, like febreeze.

Try Static Guard, you can get it in the laundry soap section at the grocery store.
