I'm thinking of learning steel guitar and have a few questions. Some of these may seem weird, but I liisten to metal, don't enjoy playing it. Don't listen to too much country, but enjoy playing it. So I want to give steel a try. I want to be talented enough to play covers in country bars. Not looking to be the equivelant of Jacco on steel.
1. How hard is it to learn to get to that point?
2. Is most of what you hear on the radio pedal or straight steel? Can I get away with straight steel?
3. Is there a Fender Jazz bass equivelent in a steel? I don't know what type of sound I want and such so I fugured I'd start with something standard until I figure it out. I like to buy used so if I lose interest I can sell it and not be out much.
4. How do I go about finding a teacher for this?
