Steel Pickguard

Hey, i have a fender active jazz bass and i'm looking to put a steel pickguard on it. Is this a bad idea (not looks sake)? for example, would it effect the pickups at all? what about aluminum? thanks

thats cool. I now know aluminum is fine, but i can get cheap steel where i work so i'm looking to use that. I know aluminum is non magnetic and steel is, so does that make a difference?

The steel pickguard won't bother the pickup any...
Remember, Fender basses originally had steel pickup covers and they seemed to sound just fine...

I've made a stainless steel pickguard for an electric guitar and it worked fine.
