| One of his best albums, IMO.
At moments it's really reminscent of Traffic, with that a nice jazzy feeling to it. Esp. the flutes on track 8 (I'm terrible w. song titles, at times).
He uses more percussion than I've known him to use on this album, however. This is a depature from both his 80s R&B pop albums, and his Traffic stuff.
My fave tune is one entitled "We're All Looking". He really rocks the Hammond on this one. It's as if we get to revisit the sounds of the Spencer Davis Group on this English rocking/blues number.
He really goes to revisits lots of old ground and forges some new ground here. And of course, he joins Eric Clapton on "Dirty City", a Blind Faith sort of number.. but with lots of percussion!
He really did a great job.. despite lack of bass guitar! |
