Stevie Nicks on SoundStage

SoundStage rules!! So here we have Stevie Nicks. I am getting such a kick out of this concert .

Me thinks she is so beautiful (strange, as I have a thing for brown eyed brunettes) I love to watch her perform, her stage personality is adorable, her voice is unique yet unremarkable, her singing style is likewise.... but she just writes the coolest damn songs .

To hear her band, what a treat... they definitely capture the essence of what we've heard on the radio many years ago.

Now the can of worms .... (for those of you who have heard this concert) I think her vocal is electronically pitch-corrected, am I alone in this assessment???

Probably not. The years haven't been particularly kind to her voice.

She was never an amazing vocalist. She was mostly a moderately capable singer who happened to be really hot. She was sort of ahead of her time that way. At least she helps write some of her stuff.

Okay. Maybe I'm a little bitter here. In all fairness, I used to really want her, back in the '80's. But if someone who sounded just like her had auditioned for my band even then, I wouldn't have hired her.

Saw the show and wondered the same thing about vocal processing. This was also one of the few Soundstage episodes where the bass player shots and bass mix was suppressed (most likely dictated by Ms Nicks' vision).

My neighbor has been a Soundstage engineer for 25 years so I know the production crew knows better. I'll ask how much involvement they had in that one.

BTW, I thought Stevie's cover of 'Rock and Roll' was lame - Heart does a much better job covering Zep.

Curious to hear what they have to say, jmc. There were many times when I thought her voice sounded a bit vocoder-ish, and too "pitch perfect"...

She is amazingly cute given her age.

If the opportuntity presented itself, I would totally 'do stuff' with her, even though I'm pretty sure my wife would beat me with pointy sticks afterward.

But that doesn't make her a singer.
