Stocking Stuffers for the Gigging Bassist

Sign in to disble this ad
Like the name says, what do we as musicians want in our dirty sock on December 25th? For me, it would be..
- A couple set of strings
- Some more Lemon Oil for fretboards
- Some cable for pedals/bass
- Various other stuff for current projects.

List your "wishlist" of sorts.

I already have one, but the Snark clip on tuner is pretty cool and not so expensive (way below the cost of one set of strings).
A couple of small paint brushes (like 1/2") would be good for keeping the dust out from under the strings and around the pups.
Wet wipes are always useful.
Stew-Mac as a really cool little tool kit for guitar set-ups and small repair.
Batteries can be important.

Bass is always a wanted gift that never seems to fit the stocking ha ha ha
Strings, and another bass driver pedal to back up the one I have just in case.
And I would take one of those snark tuners if the offer hits the table. Oh yeah can't go wrong with the Dunlop System 65 Guitar Maintenance Kit.

A Fatfinger would be a welcomed clamp-on to my stocking.

I suspect Fender's instrument care kit has been discontinued, but if you can find it in stock somewhere you will not regret it IME.

Fender Instrument Care Kit - American Music

+1 on the Snark. I do not personally find it as accurate as an in-line pedal or rack unit (tuning varies slightly depending on where it's located on the headstock), but for less than $20 everyone should have one as a backup. (I recall I picked up the red one for $13 or $14 and have had occasion to use it quite a bit.)

Microfiber cloths or some quality picks (Gravity Picks or similar) are worth considering as well.

An assortment of instrument cables, for some reason I never seem to have the exact cable I want when I need one. So, all or any of the following:
4 stompbox jumper cables 6" long
2 short patch cables one 3' long and one 6' long
1 30' long cable with a 90 on one end
1 4' long amp/speaker cable with neutrik ends
1 6' long amp/speaker cable with regular ends

Plenty of 9 volt batteries (one for every active bass I own)
Some odd ball hard to find felt bass picks
Snark tuner
Some totally different strings that I can't just pick up at the counter of GC (i.e. LaBella tapewounds, or Kala rubber strings, or Sadowsky flats, etc.)
A string winder and cable clips
A $50 gift certificate to the local guitar or amp repair shop
Some hard to find NOS tubes for the amps
A good set of headphones for quiet practice
(I think I'm running out of stockings...)

Hmm, pretty nifty, and would beat having to add another pedal to my set up. Seems to have mostly 5 star reviews on Amazon.com, and only $17.35 ($12.24 if you buy via a featured merchant).

Anyone with experience using this tuner? How has it fared for you?

A tuner is pretty much the only "sticking stuffer" Im interested in at the moment.

Lots of great ideas! I've ordered a few things.... Thank you...I can sleep in on Friday
I found some fun accessories too for my daughter.
Signals.com has a very cool bracelet made out of bass strings and some made from piano wire. For something special, Gemvara.com has sterling silver bass clef pendants with birthstones.
Happy Holidays!!

Ooooh... IHOP....

I'd like time to take and practice lessons, and money to pay for them.
