Storing Strap

Sign in to disble this ad
Just bought a bass guitar like, a week ago, together with the essentials to go with it. Did try to stick with a practise range between 30 minutes to 1 hour, depending on my curiosity. When I'm done, I will store it into a gig bag under a table, because I did not have a stand, and did not really think that any other place would be ''safer''.

I initially wanted to unstrap the bass everytime I finished playing, then storing the bass and the strap separately in different parts of the gig bag so that they would not catch dust nor would the strap be crumbled being kept strapped under the bass. And then strap it onto the bass everytime I would want to play. The question is, would the strap slowly lose its effectiveness in gripping or some sort, and that I will have to keep it strapped onto the bass at all times? Or is repeated strapping and unstrapping considered ''a viable doing''?

Of course, I don't mind at all if any of you telling me how you store your strap as well

I always remove my straps before I put my bass back in my cases. I just fold them up and fit them where ever they fit in my gig bags and cases.

I've always removed my straps, but have also always used Straplocks.

On the other hand, I've worked with many touring bands who leave the straps on at all times.

I need a screwdriver to remove my straps, so they always stay on

They are getting a bit worn where they are folded to fit in the gig bag. But the part that is getting worn is behind my left shoulder and it will not be visible to the audience. So I don't worry about it.
