so i was walking home....about 4 miles when a stranger stopped and offered me a ride home. I 've often consdered doing the same thing while driving, but you could not imagine the amount i appreciated this ride home, especiallly in -10 degree weather. I know you aren't supposed to take rides from strangers, but in this scenario, i thought it was ok. |

It should have been. |

It should have been. | A hearty +1 to that. I hate the idea that you must assume every stranger is a murdering kidnapper with an extensive collection of torture devices and a soundproofed basement. |

| | | | I picked up a hitch-hiker once that really freaked me out. He started demanding that I take him where he wanted to go, not where I wanted to let him off. That was the last time for me. |

Only the poor schmucks with no choice would be walking! Thank goodness it almost never gets that cold around here. Glad you didn't freeze to death, brianbj46.

it was late and he said the banks were closed, i dont know how banks work and ATMs work for new people to the state, but i believed him that he needed gas money and toll money. my dad was there and he got pissed off at me for giving away money. the guy offered to pay me back at a later date but i declined, in hopes he would pay it forwerd later down the line

Also, about a year ago, i was driving home at about 1 am in rural minnesota. I stopped when i saw a guy pulled over on the side of the road and asked if he needed help with something. He wound up needing a ride into town to get some gas for his truck and i was really nervous to let him in my car. I got my pocket knife out and put it by my side in case he tried to do something crazy (even though it had like a 2 inch blade ), but it was the most tense ride for those few miles into and out of town. |

I don't mean no disrespect, but I just don't understand your posts; it seems like the 2nd is a "that was wrong of you" post and the 3rd is an "I agree, not all people are crazy" post :? |

It's just sad that you have to be afraid to do so. |

And thats coming from someone who grew up in the land of southern hospitality.
