Strangest Trades for equipment

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm about to trade some gear for a pistol and it got me to thinking. What's the strangest trade you may have made for a bass or an amp? My personal story is my first bass in 1973. A local well established music store here,Music Mart would take anything, and I mean anything in trade. So I rode my beat to crap Honda SL 100 down one Saturday and left with a brand new Univox Precisely Fender copy.I still have it. They kept all the trade in stuff downstairs in a huge basement.American Pickers would've had a field day down there. There is no telling how many guys around here got their first instruments there back then. Great staff who never looked down on any customer. You could play anything in the store for hours and they would just walk by and smile or help you with any question you had.I really miss places like that. So,what's your story?

During the height of panic of losing all of one's guns, I traded a rifle for a TON of bass gear.

15 years ago I traded an electric water heater for an 80's Ibanez Roadstar 2 RB850. My cousin had it and his water heater busted. He needed the water heater more than the bass so it worked out. I bought a water heater and he game me the bass. I still think got the better trade. I gave it back to him a couple of years ago... I sure miss that bass.

It doesn't matter as long as it's someone else's.

I once traded an acoustic bass for a really comfy motel recliner about 4 years ago...

It's funny that you mentioned trading bass gear for some weapons cause I'm seriously considering selling some gear to get me a Mossberg 590 Mariner shotgun. I've really slacked on the weapon stockpile lately, I swear once I buy my own house I'm gonna have a music room, an art gallery, and a weapons room. It's gonna be complete with crazy stuff like trombones, Modigliani's, battle axes. I can't wait...

I had a friend from high school who later got into heavy drugs and traded a G&L for some crack.

He later cleaned up his act, went back to college and now teaches high school English.

Man, if I didn't need the money for an amp I would have taken it too! But actually now I still have the guitar and am happy I do.
Man I miss Nor-Cal...
