A strap with 2 height
I don't know how to describe this. Is there any strap where you can switch the strap height? I play usually keeping the bass low on my belly and I don't have any problem while doing the usual fret work. And I don't like to wear the bass on my chest.
But when I go high for a specific song (around 19th-21st fret on A, D and G) I need the bass to be very high a la Mark King and I wish I had a strap that would allow mo to change the strap height instantly. Any strap, tool, etc that makes this?

Instantly? Doesn't exist, and if it did I imagine you probably wouldn't want to use it. Could you just switch straps for one song? Or just prop your foot up on a monitor/cabinet and use your thigh to hold the bass up higher?

it does exist. but its only a height difference of about 6 inches. i have a levy leather strap which has two holes that you can choose from. I like to call them "stage mode" and "studio mode" stage being lower, and studio being higher.

Are you talking about during a song? Otherwise what I do is have strap locks in two different locations on my straps for the versatility.

A lot of straps are two-piece, with the smaller part threaded through the slotted, adjustable end of the bigger part. The smaller part can be left extra-long with more than one hole for the rear strap button. I would think this would be a quick and easy solution.

heres a pic
I have a strap from minotaur that has around 6 different holes so that i easily can change the strap height :)

I have one similar to remainthesame's. I use the lower hole while standing, and the second one while sitting. I'm pretty sure if I used the sitting hole while standing, it would set the bass at my chest instead of waist.
(Go ahead and laugh...I know that sounded wrong, but couldn't think of any other way to phrase it.)

I'm not seeing how that's any better than a strap with two holes. You still have to tie up your hand to operate it. Maybe if it was foot switchable.....
I used to do this with a Levy's strap and Dunlop straplocks. The strap has a "short" hole and a "long" hole on the bottom end, so I stuck a straplock pin in each and could quickly swap between the two. If the holes aren't the right distance apart you could always punch a new hole through the leather.
Edit: My description is the same as remainthesame described above. However, like I said, you can always add more holes and the straplocks will keep them secure.

Some basses were made with 2 strap buttons on the back/bottom-
just for this?
