Strap dilemma

Sign in to disble this ad
I bought a Ventura violin bass with a scroll headstock and have been using the same strap ive been using with my other basses. Its a fender leather strap. The problem is that the strap is not adjustable and right now it makes my bass sit around the middle length of my stomach. A friend gave me a strap that was your run of the mill tweed strap but with a moveable shoulder pad..I can get the right length with the second strap but the head dives really badly. Any advice on what to get. I dont have to much cash but I have looked at a comfort strapp. Im just not sure what to get. Thanks

If a "comfort strap" is one of the neoprene ones, they're great but I don't find they stop neck dive at all. I'd try a wide leather one with rough sueding on a shirt that doesn't move too much.

I recently purchased a strap from Wide Rides (http://www.widerides.com/) and I've had no trouble with neck dive--If it matters, I put it onto a '51 RI. It is certainly possible that this bass has no such trouble; but to be on the safe side, I opted for the "slightly sticky" surface offered.
