Has anyone ever heard about using the gaskets from grolsch beer bottles to make strap locks. My new strap that I found has a tendency to come off the button when the cable is tucked behind it (unlike my old but very similar strap that I lost )
Anyway I'm going to buy some bottles tomorrow and give it a shot. Worst case scenario it doesn't work and I had to drink a couple of bottles of beer

Check your local hardware store, too. Friend of mine picked up some heavy rubber washers/grommets for about a quarter each. Lots of sizes and thicknesses to choose from, too.

| | | | But if the strap is now permanently bolted into the bass, how do you fit it in the case? |

| | Registered User | | | | | you don't need a case anymore, over your shoulder and off on the motorcycle you go, like prince in purple rain.
not only do grolsh beer bottles come with strap locks, but the ceramic tops are great joint stones. |

It's just that the rubber gasket is tighter than a typical strap and so less likely to come off. But it slips over the button pretty effortlessly when you want to remove it. |

| | | | OH ok, thats awesome. Still my biggest problem is that the button screws become loose inside the actual bass. I have tried wood chips and blue but it won't budge, so I think that Dunlop Flush Mounts are the way to go. |

I used 2 inch sheet rock screws and some washers to lock my strap on my 86 MIJ. In hindsight I'm surprised I didn't split the wood but when you're 17 you don't think about those things. |

glad you specified "ceramic"; i don't think they even have those in the U.S. anymore - it's some kind of plastic now. |

$9 will buy a 4 pack here = 2 sets of red rubber straplocks. $10 @ AllParts will buy you 2 sets of real Dunlop locking strap buttons. I've got more spare strapends than I care to count.

Riis | I like the beer, so it's not so much of a burden to stock up on "strap washers".
