Straplocks On My Music Man... A Question.

Sign in to disble this ad
Howdy. Last night I bought some gold Dunlop Straploks on a whim. I brought them home only to find that the screws provided were bigger around and shorter than the screws in my MM Sterling's strap pins. I suck with any sort of handy work, so I'm not drilling anything, and I don't wanna pay for them to be installed.

So my question is this: can I just use the screws from the Sterling with the Dunlop straplocks, instead of using the provided ones?

Thanks,
Graeme

Will the screws on your bass fit through the holes of the strap locks? If so, then yes you should be able to use them.

...but usually they will not. The screw heads on the Dunlop screws are smaller in diameter than normal due to the need to fit down deep to leave room for the strap lock component to be inserted. Shouldn't be a big deal if the Dunlop screws are just a little bigger...that's good, actually. Just carefully screw in the Dunlop screws, which may take a bit of effort while the larger threads are cut into the wood. Be careful to pick the tightest fitting screwdriver you can, and not to bugger up the screw head slots.

If you don't want to do this, I'm sure someone will be willing to help screw in 2 screws.
