Got this great wool strap with leather ends...

I try to fit my Dunlop locks...last night I think I was trying to dissect my finger instead LOL!

I had just a little room but the strap leather was too thick I guess, and wham OUCH! it was a bloody mess

so ok, these are dangerous. i go buy Schallers today, i can only get the top lock on, the bottom...forget it. leather's a little thicker..so no go, i'm half locked LOL

just venting a little

Two words: rubber washers. (Though actually, they're called neoprene washers!) Something like 40 cents each. Easy on, and easy off if you need to take them off. I sold all my Schallers after starting to use these.

I use the Planet Waves strap that has the locks built-in. They work fairly well.

Get a Grolsch ceramic plug bottle (pretty sure you can get them worldwide). They have orange washers on them that ensure a seal. These work great as washers. exactly the same a Jeff K's suggestion, but these are orange and come with a free beer.

Ha.

Also, the Dutch just lost the world cup, so we'll take all the support we can get. Orange colored washers and Grolsch beer are great for that.

(Horrible beer though, if you ask me).

(But you didn't, so).

(Yeah).

I spent 15 dollars on a wide leather strap for my bass and almost had to drive it back to the store because my friend told me it was a strap for an acoustic guitar. Glad I decided to look and find that there actually was a hole that attached to the upper horn.

My friends and I use all kinds of things to lock our straps on. You know those little plastic ties that come with bread bags? Those work well until they bend too much. Washers work, especially if you can find metal ones to bolt on after you've got your strap on. I'm pretty lucky that mine only pops when I hold it up (near perpendicular to the floor).

I took a razor and shaved down around the slit on the leather strap that was too thick for my strap locks. Just pared a little thickness off at a time until it fit. Hasn't come off
