Straps that hold the bass in a vertical position?

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a heavy Warwick and I want to keep it up straight when I play because I like my right hand positioning when I do this. However, it always slips down. I hate pushing/pulling it with my hands because they should be playing not holding the bass in place!

Are there any proven straps out there that can hold this beast in place?

How about an (adhesive-backed) Velcro strip attached to your belt, stuck to another mounted on the back of your bass.

If you dig the turtleneck look, maybe you could wrap your strap all the way around your neck...

I wonder how Bill Wyman pulled this off all those years... http://www.google.com/search?sourcei...ill+Wyman+pics

Hmmmmm.

Had a similar problem with older Thunderbirds and Japanese Gibsons(Orvilles) with the full-size tuning keys on the head. A very wide Levi strap helped a LOT. It also made my shoulder happier after a gig! Here's the one installed now(3-1/2 I think):

although this one(huge pad) may come next:

They aren't cheap but your shoulder and not having "neck droop" is worth it.

I've got a wide bass strap made out of a yarn type material that seems to offer superior shoulder traction.
