I've gone back and forth through Musician's Friend and am fed up with their supply of straps. It's the usual suspects, Ernie Ball, Levys, Moodys, Fender, etc...
Anyone know of other sites that offer more variety in leather and nylon besides the usual name brands on MF??Most of their stuff usually stretches to only 53" which is hell if you're over 6' and playing your bass underneath your armpit.
Thank you for all suggestions and links. |

Note that I have not checked their lengths against the criteria you've stated, but the product marketing seems to indicate that they are built to be longer.
As for plain nylon straps, couch has some made of recycled seatbelt material, which I would love to get, but am wary of it slipping all over my shirt
Cheers.

May not be as expensive as one might think and they may have leather remnants they could discount. Buckles from old or discount store belts can provide any hardware needed.

I don't know offhand how long they get, but I'm 6'3" and like my bass low/low-medium height.
I bought one because some of the reviews on MF said that they didn't get short enough, so I figured that was good enough for me. |

These Brookwood leather straps are so far the only other straps I would consider. The 'cut to length' straps are very classy and understated.
If you don't want to gt one from them, I suggest finding your local biker leather guy. He will fix you up with whatever you can dream up.

Great quality straps, lots of color choices, or you can keep it simple and just get a plain seat-belt nylon strap. I've got a wide one that I use on my Ric and I love it.
Also, the Mono straps are pretty cool, and a good deal at $39. They all have a pretty modern look, but they're still simple and clean. Even the padded version is the same price.
EDIT: something that's good to ask yourself... do you prefer a grippy or slippy strap? grippy is good if you've got a neck-diving bass, slippy is good if you like to move the bass around a lot, or shift the position depending on where on the neck you're playing. I never realized how much of an impact it could have until i NEEDED a grippy strap for a severe neck-diving short scale, and also when I tried to use that same grippy strap on my P bass and I realized how annoying it was to have the strap sticking to my shirt when I wanted to move it. In general i much prefer slippy, and souldier makes a great one at a good price (plain ones are like $18).
examples of grippy: suede straps, certain rubberized straps, some cotton straps
examples of slippy: smooth leather, nylon, seat-belt material, some cotton straps
