Question string lubricant

Sign in to disble this ad
hello all, i searched the archives and got some ideas, yet want to know a bit more--are there any good over-the-counter products that could be used as a flatwound string lubricant? something other than nose grease...also something besides commercially available products like fast fret or finger ease...is anyone using lemon oil, wd40, armor all etc. as a stirng lubricant? what's it like? thanks, ron

WD-40 works pretty well, but my own personal favorite is Hoppes#9 gun cleaning solvent. WD-40 stays slick for a gig or so, but Hoppes#9 feels slick for a few weeks.

Why do need a string lube? If it's for the nut, a bit of pencil lead (graphite) will do it and not affect the strings.
