Strings, Bass, or Amp?

In this clip, at the end, the slap sound on the low strings sounds awesome.

Where is most of that tone coming from? The Strings, Bass, or Amp?

That's a great tone, but I can't quite capture it with my current setup. So what element do I need to change to get that tone? I think my Valentis lack of VTC is a factor, the low string slap is too bright for my taste, even when the bass is flat (Sadowsky pre) and the treble is rolled off on the amp.
