But there is a difference between setting up instruments and just tuning them.
The strobo rack is a bit different, due to it being a display, instead of wheels...
Both tune well (2000 and stroborack), i've used both and I was never out of tune, if that helps..... |

note: only stroborack, not those models you listed. |

IMO, you can't go wrong with either one, they're just a little different, user-wise. It seems that you're already leaning towards the stroborack, so i'd say go for it. |

Edit: Oops, didn't notice at first you want a rack unit. Nevermind!

Even the biggest POS tuner will tune a bass so well that only world class golden ears might be able to tell the difference. In a performance environment NOBODY is going to hear a cent one way or the other.
The difference will be:
1. How fast does it track and pick up the low notes? A POS will show it's flaws. There won't be a difference that matters between Korg or Peterson.
2. Is it accurate enough to do a GOOD job setting intonation? Does it? C'mon, does it REALLY? The Peterson will absolutely. You can tune a Steinway top to bottom PERFECTLY with one of those things. The Granddaddy Korg has two modes, strobe and cents. There is a difference in accuracy between the two but neither mode can touch the Peterson. Having said that, the Korg on strobe mode will intonate a bass or guitar as well as it needs to be.
I have a Korg 1000 and a 2000, I've had Peterson and an honest to God Conn analogue strobe tuner. I decided to lighten and shrink the rack a couple of months ago and now there is a POS (Like maybe < $15) tuner plugged into my pre amp tuner out.
It's kinda annoying that it doesn't have a light or that it won't pick up an open low B for s**t but, I've never felt like my instrument was not quite in tune. |
