Strugling to find a "good" band in Hollyweird

Sign in to disble this ad
I am so dissapointed with Los Angeles lately all the acts seemed to be either older blues/classic rock dudes or young kids with their EMO crap. The last gig I had here in Hollywood was in June of 2006. I've put ads in, gone on auditions even been offered a couple gigs but nothing seems to "fit" right. I am being a little picky but still. I'm also 42 years old and married(no kids) with a very supported wife(more supportive then some band members I've worked with in the past to be honest). Just because I'm 42 doesn't mean I like classic rock/hair metal, why are so many musicians my age struggling to let the 80's go? I like Modern rock but also dig a lot of Irish Rock. Anyway guess I just need to vent so thanks for reading!! Anyone know any "good" rock bands in Los Angeles looking for a bass player please let me know.

Dude, it's LA! Only about a million musicians there, keep trying.
Have you tried Orange County? I had a lot of work when I lived there ('78-'93).

Because it's where I live, pretty settled here with job, wife not that easy to just pick up and move for me. Orange County's too far away. Plus LA's been pretty good to me band wise in the past had songs in film and tv etc. I'm just "in between" bands at the moment trying to find the right fit. I'll just continue to be patient.
Thanks for the responses though I seriously do appreciate it.
Joe

Hollywood is the land of wanna-be's. They flock there like a moth to a flame.
If you look around and are picky, I think you can find some decent people.

I'll avoid the obvious joke...

But seriously, make some phone calls, go see some bands, hang out, etc. Something will come up! It's LA!
