Stupid comments you've heard about musicians/music in general...

Sign in to disble this ad
I recently had a cracker of a comment which made me LOL and at the same time.

I was trying to play Level 42's Mr Pink and a friend of mine came in. He took one look at me and said

"Isn't slap-bass music for porn?"

Sad thing was that he was deadly serious.

So, can anyone add to this?

You missed a thread(locked now) while you were gone wich basically stated that if you can't read music you shouldn't call yourself a musician.

There was a time when I would have said the same thing. But in the music I play most people can't read a note, yet alone play from sheet.

Back to OT....
I once had a guitar player tell me that if you could play a 1-4-5 progression, that's all you needed to play the Blues.
Coming from a guy who wouldn't have known what a groove was if he had fallen in it. )=(

Guess he never heard of an 8 bar or a 1-6-2-5 turn around.

Tell him to check out "Two Steps From the Blues" by Bobby "Blue" Bland,or Texas Johnny Brown's version if you can find it.Lotsa chords...............

Another one I heard:

"Jazz is full of old black guys playing 200 notes a minute!"

This has been around a while, but it's a funny read if you haven't seen it. Someone asked Pat Metheney what he thought about Kenny G...
