60's surf tunes rule-
The first two instrumentals that came to mind were "Walk Don't Run" from the Ventures and Santo & Johnny's "Sleepwalk"

If your guitar player is up to it, any song by Joe Satriani.
"In Memoriam" - Hammerfall...? |

but how about, "Pick Up The Pieces," (1974) by The Average White Band?
It's a really funky song, and no part of it is hard to play. In fact, most parts are pretty easy. If you don't have a sax player, and I assume that you don't, you can have the keyboard or a guitar play that part.
If you play it, I bet you impress all the parents.

Lenny is another good SRV tune - slow, but rocks. Jessica by the Allman Brothers is a good one. Wipeout is a catchy one and easy to pull off. Can you tell I'm a classic-rock fan?
Another cool idea might be to do a medly of some sort. Especially if you could do a new\fresh rocking\funky take on some old school (rock or R&B) tunes. Might be something the kids may like and the parents enjoy and relate to as well... |
